The boys are in top form after recently sharing the stage with The Meters ft. Page McConnell of Phish, as well as jamband powerhouse Kung Fu. ST will also be polishing off and releasing a brand spankin' new six song EP in early 2013. Catch 'em while they're hot people.

The Swift crew is extremely excited to be representing Philly along with two of the nation's finest funk and soul bands - The Main Squeeze from Indiana and headliners, Kung Fu from New Haven, Connecticut. Swift Technique 5 Year Celebration @ Sullivan Hall, NYC
Swift Technique will be celebrating all things funk along with an all star lineup for the first annual Brooklyn Funk Fest in East Williamsburg! Swift will help kick off the three day festival on Wednesday, November 28th at The Paper Box. Full artist lineup and ticket information is available through Heard Entertainment. Did we mention Afrika Bambaataa was recently named the festival headliner? Funk lovers across the East Coast should not miss this inaugural event!
That's right friends - October 2012 marks five years of Swift Technique. America's favorite dysfunctional family and the most raging-est funk band in the land has defied all the odds. In the fall of 2007, with only four members of the band and a broken bass drum pedal, Swift proceeded to earn the "standout performer" of the evening at Philadelphia's World Cafe Live open mic and it was confirmed right there and then that the people need the funk.

That Fall, Swift was also eventually named "Standout Performer of the Month" and performed Downstairs @ The World Cafe Live for their annual event, "Cream of Philly Rising". The last five years have been marked by other notable highlights and achievements including the opportunity to open for Wu-Tang Clan on New Years Day in 2011. Swift performed for Temple University's main Welcome Week events in 2009 and 2010, including opportunities to share the stage with Keri Hilson and Wale at The Liacouras Center. In recent years, Swift Technique has grown fan bases across the country in cities including Burlington, VT, Chicago, IL, Asheville, NC and all points in between. Most recently, the group completed recordings for a new EP at a Philadelphia studio owned by Rob Hyman of The Hooters.

Of course, plans are in order for official celebrations in our two favorite towns - Philadelphia and New York City. Mark your calendars folks, because you don't want to miss this. On Wednesday, October 24th, Swift will return to Manhattan's Sullivan Hall for an all out funk fest palooza with Baltimore's Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. The following Wednesday, October 31st - Halloween night - Swift Technique will return to the stage where it all started, Upstairs @ The World Cafe Live, for a truly frightening night of funk. After a short recording break in July, the supersonic funk caravan known as Swift Technique will be blazing into their fifth year at full steam. Major highlights from July included tracking for an upcoming EP and a live video/audio recording at Philadelphia's The Blockley. Look for all this funktastic footage in the coming weeks and months.

For the first time ever, Rich and Jake will be performing with BOTH Swift Technique AND Brother Joscephus under ONE roof. On Thursday, August 9th, BroJo and Swift will collaborate in Philadelphia at The World Cafe Live. The night will be capped off with a third set, featuring a super jam with both bands. Nation - prepare yourselves for what may be the most happenin DC monthly residency in history. April showers are coming to a close, but we're gonna make it rain funk just one more time in the beautiful state of Vermont.
Swift Technique at Red Square, Albany NY
It's going to be a full day of funk on Friday, April 27th in Vermont's capital, Montpelier. The local dinner crowd will get treated to short acoustic "preview" set at Bagitos (28 Main St.) beginning at 7pm. We'll be pulling out all the stops later that evening at our new favorite spot in VT, Black Door. We'll once again be joined by renowned Philadelphia keyboardist and saxophonist, Jay Davidson.
On Saturday, April 28th, the Swift train will return to Southern Vermont to perform at Inferno in Brattleboro. We're excited to be joining our Northampton friends, Primate Fiasco, for an evening of what is sure to live up to venue's namesake. We'll also be performing with local vocalist, Molly Steinmark of Grooveshoes, who will be doing her thing on some Swift tracks.

The funk hurricane blows through Vermont's capital city of Montpelier on Friday March 30th at The Black Door on Main St. We haven't just been hibernating these past three weeks, we've actually cranked out a couple kickin' jams that we can't wait to debut.

After spending a late January evening in a Philadelphia fire station, the ensuing activities have been featured in the Spring issue of JUMP Magazine! JUMP is magazine based in Philadelphia. The print edition is released quarterly and has already featured local heroes Jill Scott and Chiddy Bang. As they say it, "We are musicians, journalists, students, photographers, artists and Philadelphians.We are not part of a massive corporation. We are music-lovers. We go to concerts, dance in illegal basement venues, party at clubs, hang with other music-lovers and listen to lots of music. We are all a part of the Philly music scene in some way or another."
We're truly honored to be a part of this exciting up and coming magazine based in our hometown. The Spring edition is currently in print and available throughout the TriState area!

Swift Technique will be stopping back through Long Island this week for the first time in 2012. On Friday, January 27th, Swift will perform two sets at The Velvet Lounge in East Setauket, NY. The last performance at The Velvet Lounge featured a collaboration with Dallas Lewis and some impromptu jamming with local drummer/percussionist Ryan Broderick. Swift Technique will appear at the Winter BoB Quarterly this Thursday, January 19th, at Drom NYC (85 Avenue A) along with Spanglish Fly, The Clox and The AudioBodies. The show will mark a string of recent accolades for Swift Technique, including being nominated for Indie Blues / Funk / Jazz Band of the Year by TriState Indie and being named Artist of the Week by BestNewBands.com in late December.
